Caroline Marks: The Rookie
11 July, 2019Carissa Moore conquers J-Bay
22 July, 2019Gabriel Medina (Brazil) won at the Corona Open J-Bay in Jeffrey’s Bay, Eastern Cape of South Africa, one of the fastest expanding urban areas in the country, former a little fishing town and now an amazing city to live in where as you know, they even have a top surfing competition.
Although there are many surfers from South Africa like Jordy Smith, Mike February, Beyrick De Vries and many more, the Semifinals were comprised by 3 Brazilian surfers and the current number 1, who is from the USA: Kolohe Andino. The Brazilians were Gabriel Medina, of course, who ended up winning the event and Filipe Toledo and Italo Ferreira.
Gabriel Medina and Italo Ferreira got on to the Final and they had a good fight although Medina made a 9.73 + a 9.77 while Ferreira made a 9.10 + a not so good 7.67, which ended up making him lose at the end.
This final result makes Kolohe Andino (USA) climb one position to Number 1 in the ranking, Filipe Toledo also climbs one position to numer 2 and J.J. Florence who got injured, went down two positions to end up 3rd in the overall rankings. From here we’d like to send our love to Florence so that he might recover as soon as possible.
