Caroline Marks: The Rookie

Caroline Marks, age 17, current 5th position in the WSL Ranking

If you check-out the WSL Women’s ranking at the official WSL website you’ll see that after 5 major events, Caroline Marks (February 14, 2002, Boca Ratón, Florida) is currently ranked 5th, with the same amount of points than Lakey Peterson and at only 6 thousand points from number 1: Sally Fitzgibbons.

Caroline Marks is only 17 ! but a multiple national champion and the youngest female to compete in a World Surf League event. Not only that, but she won the first major event of the season back at the Gold Coast, surprising the whole world.

Her positions in the last 5 events have been 1, 3, 9, 5 and 9 having earned 176,200 dollars and achieving 26,050 points. Only 5 other surfers are doing better than her, or 4 even, because as we said Lakey Peterson has the same points as her, so those 4 currently are: Sally Fitzgibbons, Carissa Moore, Stephanie Gilmore and Courtney Conlogue, but she has nearly 4 thousand points more than Tatianna Weston-Webb.

Now she has to prove herself at the 6th WSL event that is due for July 9-22 that is the Corona Open J-Bay, in Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa, where Stephanie Gilmore is the current defending champion. As we said, Caroline Marks is only 17 and is already earning more than we would can imagine, so bring your daughter to learn surf at Atlantik Surf or take her to our Surfcamp in Cantabria.
