Surf Hero Challenge 2012 comes to Gijón

13 November, 2012The Portuguese town of Nazaré is preparing to host a major event that will put the Portuguese town on the map of international surfing events.
This is a team competition of big waves, where the riders will have to demonstrate their value, quality and conditions.
The name of the event is Red Bull Myth, a chance for fans of the waves to see in action the best big wave riders from around the globe, performing amazing and impossible actions.
The site chosen is the Praia do Norte in Nazaré, a spectacular area with great potential thanks to the legendary big waves of Nazaré Canyon. This great barrier of 170 km in length and about 5 km deep, is a very strange geomorphological, the largest in Europe and one of the largest in the world, used to make the delights of catching waves experts.
Legends of surfing as Chile’s Ramon Navarro, Brazilian Carlos Burle, the Portuguese Ruben Gonzalez and Jose Gregorio, Australians Tom Carroll and Ross Clarke-Jones have confirmed their presence at this great show, a pioneer in Portugal.
Also participate in the meeting also Spanish, Basque surfer Axi Muniain, which is the most nominated European athlete to Billabong XXL.
