J.J. Florence wins at Margaret River
12 June, 2019Toledo and Fitzgibbons win at Rio
29 June, 2019Well, with this win Lakey Peterson climbs up two positions (from 7th to 5th), Courtney Conlogue goes down two, Sally Fitzgibbons and Carissa Moore climb up 1 and Caroline Marks and Stephanie Gilmore remain 2nd and 1st respectively.
The surprise here is Caroline Marks again, a rookie that is performing more than well and is second after 4 events only 1 thousand points aprox. behind Stephanie Gilmore and now we have to go to Oi Rio Pro, in Brazil.
Tatiana Weston Webb did quite well on this event reaching the final, beating Sally Fitzgibbons on the semifinals, and on the other side Carissa Moore and Lakey Peterson performed a good fight before the girl from the United States reached the final.
The final between Tatiana Weston-Webb and Lakey Peterson was tough. They both made a 6.40 in their first qualifying wave, but then Peterson made a 6.93 in the second while Tatiana could only make a 4.00. Peterson got the 10,000 points then and Tatiana 7,800. Tatiana therefore climbs one position to 9th, but she’s only 9 thousand points behind number 1, so everything is quite open.
Here at Atlantik Surf we can’t wait for The Oi Rio Pro to start. It is due for June 20-28 and Stephanie Gilmore won last year which makes it even more difficult for her to lose her first position, it depends on how she performs and how well the others do. The first 9 women can climb up to 1st position depending on their scores. Come and learn to surf with us in Tenerife to become the next woman champion.
