SURFING EXERCISES

I’m glad to say that there are thousands of online websites that talk about how to train to improve your surfing, and some of them are in-depth articles that speak about nearly everything you can imagine, thoroughly. Therefore, we just want to enumerate some top exercises for you to do at home and then we’ll give you a complete link lists of other websites to check in order to improve your surfing with quality training exercises.

1.- Surfing Warm-Up: Yes, I know many of you don’t like to warm up before getting into the water or before doing any other exercise, but you must understand why it helps your body and how crucial it is to avoid an injury. As said by Surfer Today, ‘Your warm-up should consist of movements and mobility drills which replicate some of the movements in surfing.’ Among the best exercises to warm-up we have the breathing squat, the single leg upper body rotation, T-Rotation push ups, Warrior Lunge, Butt Drops, Bent Shoulder Circles and the Standing Knee Hugs. You can check online if you don’t know any of these.

2.- Surf Training Workouts: Here you can choose at least three of the following exercises: Kettlebell Swings, Back Squats or Front Squats, Dead Lifts, Single Leg Dead Lifts, Lunges and multi-directional Lunges, Plyometric Hops, Single Arm Cable Pushes and Pulls, Overhead Presses and Single Arm Overhead Presses, Medicine Ball Chops, Sprints Cable Chops, Pushup Variations or Pull-Ups/Chin-Ups.

3.- Balance: Well, there are many things to improve your balance, which is essential in surfing, but we’d rather choose an Indoboard. If you haven’t got one or don’w want to make one yourself, you can use an upper body medice ball or try single leg hopping.
