20 December, 2013How does the monster wave of Nazaré arise?
27 January, 2014At the beginning of next year the young and coming shaper Taz, only 17 years old, will join the Olatu/Pukas team (Basque Country). He will be one of the official shaper of Kream Surfboards. A huge opportunity for him and a perfect beginning for his occupational career, which is focused on the high-performance sector of surfing. Kream is an affiliated company of the well-known brand Pukas and is the proving ground for raw talents. Manufactured in the same workspace as Pukas young talents have the chance to gain their needed experience.
“The biggest motivation for me joining the team next year, is thanks to the fact that I will be joining directly as the official shaper of Kream surfboards, and not just a nameless back-shaper, like most young shapers have to do. A brand under which all of the newest official Pukas shapers of today have designed and shaped for in the past such as Mikel Agote (EUK), Axel Lorentz (FRA) etc..” In May he already worked together with Peter Daniels in order to be his official back-shaper for 2014.
Taz Yassin started shaping boards at the age of 12. He grew up in the south of Tenerife (Canary Islands) and surfed his first wave with 8. At the age of 15 he was already working as a production back-shaper for factories around the world and one year later he got invited to compete in shaping competitions. Alongside shaper legends such as Rawson, Pyzel, Mayhem etc. he could prove his talent and learn from the best.
Here you can see his ‘Kream’ design.
He already made over 150 ‘Kream’ by TAZ shapes this year and worked together with some of Europe’s best surfers such as Aritz Aranburu (EUK), Jonathan Gonzalez (CNY), Gony Zubizarreta (ESP) and Hodei Collazo (EUK).
I personally will miss his old, kind of weird, logo shown above.
