Italo Ferreira (Brazil) has won the 2019 World Title and the last event, the Billabong Pipe Masters in an epic performance. Not only he has won the title and the last event, he also won the second to last event at the MEO Rip Curl PRO in Portugal, so it’s fair to say that the strongest man in the last months has won the title, he was on a winning streak and in great shape.
Among the 4 best surfers in the world in 2019, 3 of them are Brazilian. We’ve talked about this before here in Atlantik Surf, Brazil is producing the best surfers in the world by far. Rankings ended like this: Italo Ferreira, Gabriel Medina, Jordy Smith and Filipe Toledo.
Italo Ferreira has earned 491,600 dollars for ending up first. We all know these amounts aren’t as high as many other sports but we are sure that they will get better with time. Surfing earnings can’t be compaired to what they get in the NBA, football, tennis or american football.
So now it’s time to say goodbye again to the World Surf League until the 2020 season that will start after all our favourite surfers enjoy their well deserved holidays. So we won’t be posting any WSL events until March-April ! Meanwhile, come and learn to surf in Tenerife with Atlantik Surf.
