There are only 4 Surfing Pro contests left to see who becomes 2017’s Surfing champion of the world<\/strong>: Trestles (California), Las Landas (France), Peniche-Cascais (Portugal) and Pipeline. Will surfers from USA win this time? Can anyone else win in California? We’ll see.<\/p>\n

Right now, Jordy Smith from Australia is on top of the ranking<\/strong>, followed by John John Florence (HAW), Matt Wilkinson (AUS) and Owen Wright (AUS). Any of these four surfers might jump into 1st position after Trestles if they win as they are very close to each other in points. Jordy Smith with 37.850 points is only 2.500 points ahead of 4th Owen Wright, so if the latter ends up first and wins 10.000 points and Jordy Smith doesn’t finish second, he will lose his first position. But the same can happen with many others in the ranking depending on the others final position in Trestles.<\/p>\n

First qualified gets 10.000 points, second 8.000 , 3rd 6.500<\/strong>, 5th place (there is no 4th place)- 5,200, 9th place – 4.000 points (there are no 6, 7 and 8th place), 13th place – 1750 points and finally, 25th place 500 points. They also give 500 points to the INJured (INJ). You can take a look at scores here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jordy Smith<\/strong>, who is currently 1st in the ranking, won the Trestles competition last year in 2016<\/strong> so he is favourite this year too and especially as he knows that he is 1st and needs to defend his title. But who won 2016’s tour at the end of the season ? John John Florence<\/strong> from Hawaii with more than 10.000 points of difference. This is going to be very exciting to watch.
