The municipality Ribamont\u00e1n al Mar<\/strong> in Cantabrian is the first in Spain and second in Europe (following Ericeira, Portugal) to declare its beaches and Nature Reserve of Surf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This step was taken by the exceptional nature of this area and to protect its unique heritage value and natural resources, socioeconomic and cultural development.<\/p>\n

The statement comes a proposal from the environmental department of the Cantabrian Surfing Federation<\/strong> and seeks both the recognition of natural resources such as tourism promotion linked up to this beautiful sport.<\/p>\n

This innovative Nature Reserve of Surf<\/strong> covers the entire area of interest to surfers located between the towns of Somo, Loredo, Langre and Galizano, a coastal area which highlights the huge waves breaking on the island of Santa Marina.<\/p>\n

Ribamont\u00e1n al Mar<\/strong> is one of the municipalities of reference of surfing in Europe since, according to experts, this natural sanctuary of surfing has a large variety and quality of waves, big waves from expert-level waves of easy and safe beach suitable to take the first steps in this sport.<\/p>\n
